Science Fiction fra etterkrigs-epoken
(1946 - ca. 1965)

I, RobotIsaac Asimov4.0
In this collection, one of the great classics of science fiction, Asimov set out the principles of robot behavior that we know as the Three Laws of Robotics. Here are stories of robots gone mad, mind-reading robots, robots with a sense of humor, robot politicians, and robots who secretly run the wo...
Foundation (Foundation Novels)Isaac Asimov4.5
Foundation marks the first of a series of tales set so far in the future that Earth is all but forgotten by humans who live throughout the galaxy. Yet all is not well with the Galactic Empire. Its vast size is crippling to it. In particular, the administrative planet, honeycombed and tunnel...
Foundation and Empire (Foundation Novels)Isaac Asimov4.5
Asimov's Foundation books are well-crafted, masterfully imagined, and peopled with fascinating characters. Spanning some several thousand years, and multiple generations of characters (often more than one per book), the author does a fantastic job keeping each set unique and captivating. The stories...
The End of Eternity (Gollancz SF Library)Isaac Asimov5.0
I probably first read this classic sometime in the late 1950s; certainly, it's the earliest time travel novel I can remember reading. Andrew Harlan, a native of the 95th century, is a Technician in Eternity, a member of a corps of self-appointed guardians of reality that exists outside of ordinary t...
Childhood's EndArthur C. Clarke4.5
To start off, I think this book is a masterpiece of ideas and science fiction. That said, I'll begin by mentioning what I see as my one significant squabble with the book.
Lies, Inc.: A NovelPhilip K. Dick3.5
Unlike a lot of PKD fans I really like this book. I've read the original novella (The Unteleported Man) once and the 1983 Berkeley version (also titled The Unteleported Man) with the additional 1965 chapters included, three times. I am a hard core Philip K Dick fan having read most of his novels, st...
A Canticle for LeibowitzWalter M. Miller4.5
Walter M. Miller's acclaimed SF classic A Canticle for Leibowitz opens with the accidental excavation of a holy artifact: a creased, brittle memo scrawled by the hand of the blessed Saint Leibowitz, that reads: "Pound pastrami, can kraut, six bagels--bring home for Emma." To the Brothers of S...
